I am a musician, writer and independent researcher working on brass acoustics, motor learning and music education. My particular interest is how cornet, trumpet and flugelhorn teachers can help amateur musicians develop their playing and sustain an active musical life.

This website brings together my articles, reviews and teaching analyses. It also examines the history and changing culture of wind ensembles, including new approaches to participation and repertoire.
